When Sammy stopped by our iSurv1vor Studios he had a lot of very good things to say about his 2nd experience. I always enjoy talking with Sammy - and it was interesting to get his take on his time spent in Egypt.
Host-Sandros: Hey Sammy, welcome again to iSurv1vor Live! Sorry Cody can't be here but he's been busy with things. And now that I think about it I don't think you had an iSurv1vor Live! interview last season.
Sammy: Thanks, Sandros! And, I did, actually. I remember Cody asking me who I thought would win and how I felt about the Final 3.
Host-Sandros: Oh, really. lol. Well, anyways, Welcome! How has life been since you were voted out of the game? Looking back on it now. What did you think of Egypt?
Sammy: I'm definitely a lot more calm. I was a spaz during the game because I wanted to win so badly - to prove to some of the China folks that I was a good player.. that I wasn't as weak as they thought I was. I fell far short from that, though.
Sammy: I thought Egypt was great, though. Definitely a lot different from China. I enjoyed everything about it, even if I was voted out before the merge/jury.
Host-Sandros: Fell short., maybe a bit. In my eyes you played very well with the cards you were given. You should be proud of yourself. Now, can you compare Egypt to China for me a bit....
Sammy: Well, the game was set up completely different. There was definitely a lot more pressure in the tribal stage in Egypt than there was China, even with China's Red Rover twist. The tribe switches were almost expected, though I wasn't sure when. The Pharaoh twist was definitely new to any gave I've seen. Brought a whole knew aspect into the game.
Sammy: The people were also completely different. I got to know everyone in China, so I can't say much about those I didn't meet in Egypt. Overall, though, the cast was different. There wasn't as much stress, but there was at the same time - primarily because I returned.
Host-Sandros: Did you like the Pharaoh twist, I mean in ways...it was part of your demise I would say.
Sammy: From an outside view - it added a lot of interesting aspects. From an in-game view, I really don't believe it was why I was voted out. I had a choice to make. I chose to bring those I thought would help me win so that I could advance. As soon as the decision was made, though, I realized I should have brought those I didn't know as well, hoping they'd be targets over me. It was a hasty move, and a bad one at that, but I don't regret it. The main reason I was voted out was because the "slaves," if you will, were threatened by me. They felt I was a strong player both mentally and physically.
Host-Sandros: Amen to that. I feel the last three boots were all voted out because they were "threatning." Conny, Syd, and yourself. It seems to be a trend out here. So tell me, what did you think of the start of this game, on Giza?
Sammy: I thought it was great! I got to know Torah pretty well, and Jon and I became very close friends.
Host-Sandros: Great, Jon and Torah are both star people. Now that you mention Jon..I'm sure you know...he has become the most recent castaway voted out after you. What do you make of that?
Sammy: I feel as though this cast is taking the Fijian way out of things. - Simply voting off the next available threat so that only the weaker ones [or.. less threatening, should I say] remain. Jon, however. It hurts me that he was taken out right after me. I can blame myself for that. I'm not exactly sure why he was voted out, though. He was nice, quiet and not threatening at all.
Host-Sandros: Yes it seems like that. It's only a matter of time before the less threatening become the very threatening. A quick outside/inside view on Jon, I think he was voted out because oh his UTRness. The merge just recently occured...what do you think will happen in the coming days?
Sammy: Eh, I'm not one to hold grudges against those who play better than I, but I do hope that Andrew and Morgan take their downfall soon enough. They're close and Andrew will seemingly do anything to make sure he stays in. As far as what will actually happen, though... I can't say. The only two left that I had good relations with are the only two in the Final 8 that I know well enough of to root for them.
Host-Sandros: Very well then. Who are you rooting for? I'm guessing those people you knew, Clayton, Torah?
Sammy: Well, make that three, then.Torah, Clayton.. and Jennifer.
Host-Sandros: Mentioning Torah... she just won Immunity, along with Ektor. Does that surprise you?
Sammy: To an extent, yes. I know others that are stronger overall than both of them, even though Ektor seemed the strongest from the original Memphis and Torah held her own in Giza and New Heqet.
Host-Sandros: Definitely, both of them are contenders here in Egypt. Well Sammy, any closing statements you want to make?
Sammy: Good luck to everyone left. It's a hard game, and it only gets harder. Make smart decisions and always be on guard. I knew I'd have a hard time playing this time, since Conny and I had the "returning" label on our backs and foreheads. I'm glad I got to play again, just disappointed I didn't do as well as I'd hoped.
Host-Sandros: Oh, now that you mentioned Conny... How was it playing with her again?
Sammy: Hah. It was great, actually. I knew I had to be on guard with her around, just in case she tried to pull a fast one on me, which she did. We let China go and concentrated on this game. I'm slightly upset that she tried to vote me out when she did, because we had the votes on our side to take out Morgan, but I'm not mad at her. It's a game, and people have to do what they have to do to try to survive.
Host-Sandros: Exactly, that gamble she took cost her her life in this game. Once both of you survived the Michael voted I was a bit shocked to tell you the truth.
Host-Sandros: I was expecting some post-China fireworks. But then she tried to blindside you didn't she..in the end.
Sammy: She was actually rather gung-ho to take Michael out. She tried to take me out, again, but it ended up being her downfall in both games, though in slightly different manners. I'm actually shocked Heqet took her out over me, especially with the fight she put up before they voted, asking for mercy. I respect her though. She played the game.
Host-Sandros: That she did. Well Sammy, again I want to thank you for stopping by.
Sammy: Quite welcome =]
Host-Sandros: Sorry Egypt didn't work out for you...you rock for wanting to play again. Keep your tele line open..expect perhaps an iSurv1vor All Stars phone call from me.
Sammy: I'd hope to hear from you for that =] I'd love to play another Sandros-original!
Host-Sandros: I'd love for you to come back for Allstars. Expect and invite to the iSurv1vor 6 Alumni forum. Thanks Sammy.
